Fall is in the Air

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since I stopped by to chat. Did you miss me or are you busy, busy, too?

Well, now is a wonderful time to be reminded of all the reasons why Pecan Cottage should be on your mind.

Birthday Gatherings – several Pauls Valley gals got together at The Cottage this weekend to celebrate an upcoming 49th; some stayed over and some went home, but ALL had a fabulous time according to Lisa’s message.

Do you have enough room for all family members during the holidays? Spread them out at Pecan Cottage where they can enjoy the privacy and still be close to family.

Love is in the Air – A quiet couple nights at Pecan Cottage is more time than it sounds. Check in early in the morning and stay until late in the evening on your check out day.

Daughter(s} in college, but want to spend some time with mom. Then a very nice place to do it is in Pauls Valley at Pecan Cottage. Plenty of great places to eat, cool shopping, and awesome historic homes. Plus The Cottage is such a comfortable place to relax and chat.

Need a nice place to stay while you wander around? Pecan Cottage is close to casinos, wineries, a chocolate factory, museums, art galleries, lakes and other scenic spots, Amtrak to Fort Worth or Oklahoma City, antique shops, and so much more – including nice folk.

Guests also get a first hand preview of the latest creations by Susen Foster Designs – mostly ONE-OK-A-KIND  jewelry all made with gorgeous natural stones. Special prices, too. And with the holidays coming, it is a wonderful opportunity to pick up something very special for someone very special.

Add some of your own reasons. Mayber YOU want to getaway for the holidays so you don’t have to deal with the work and family drama. Pecan Cottage is just the place.

Want to trade homes in October?

I grew up on the beach in Southern California and after nearly 10 years living in the midwest, I really miss the ocean.

Pauls Valley is a truly charming, brick paved, tree lined small town in Central Oklahoma just of Interstate 35 betwen Dallas/Ft. Worth and Oklahoma City where a family or a couple or a group of friends can enjoy clean air, free parking, friendly folk, wineries, train rides, casinos and some of the countries most fascinating attractions. There is so much to see and do for all ages and October is a grand time to visit.

On the other hand, I would personally love to spend a few weeks right on the beach. Are any of you with a home where you can walk on to sand at the ocean looking for a change?  I am asking that we talk about this opportunity and what you would enjoy doing.

Here in Autumn, the trees are in full color, the pecans are falling on the ground, and the weather is perfect. I would be happy to arrange for you to meet people of your age and make certain you have the perfect itinerary.

We could trade homes. I will take care of yours and you can take care of mine.

Please let me know if this idea is of interest to you. info@greatersuccess.com

Pecan Cottage Chick Trips a Big Hit!!

Heartland Flyer at Fort Worth Depot

Hi Everyone,
Yesterday, I attended a Heartland Flyer meeting at Riverwind Casino and so many good things happened. First – several people from our very cool Oklahoma Department of Tourism & Recreation were there and helped guide us through the concept of creating Itineraries.
Well, as you know, Pecan Cottage Bed & Breakfast didn’t just fall off the turnip truck when it comes to Itineraries. We have a list of possibilities 3 pages long – many that other Amtrak Depot towns hadn’t thought of.
Oh, in case you don’t know – Heartland Flyer is Amtrak’s passenger rail line from Fort Worth (Dallas) to Oklahoma City with stops at many great towns along the way, including Pauls Valley where we have the nicest little depot.
Okay, back to the story. Many seemed surprised to hear that all of us have within an easy drive horseback riding rentals, four wheeler rentals, and boat rentals; and seasonal fruit picking right from the orchard or farm. Everyone knew, of course, about our great casinos, wineries, theaters, galleries, boutiques, and antiques; golf courses and fishing spots; eateries and entertainment, plus the wonderous scenery of Turner Falls and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. And now -opening this weekend – THE CHICKASAW CULTURAL CENTER just a few miles south of Pauls Valley. I’ll tell you more about this in my next blog.
The point is, we are all going to be working together to plan some Itineraries that will encourage people to enjoy the fun and relaxation of train travel, either one way or round trip, and by making Pecan Cottage Bed & Breakfast (or some other lodging in another town if you must) as their home base, create a personal Itinerary that all the girls – since we specialize in Chick Trips – will enjoy; no matter what adventure means to them.
Watch for more. It just keeps getting better. And check out www.heartlandflyer.com for information about specials. There are some great ones.
See you soon, Susen Foster

Etsy Store for UNUSUAL CREATIONS

Hello my friends,
I have been hard at work trying to find a way to showcase and sell my jewelry. Seems like when people see them in person, they almost always buy at least one necklace (and, of course, the earrings are my gift to the buyer).
But since I can’t spend all day running around with tons of jewelry hanging off me – though I do try – it is not efficient use of my time especially as Pecan Cottage gets busier.
I think I found a solution. Look for us at http://www.etsy.com/shop/planetearthjewelry.  You can purchase right there with PayPal options.
Please visit and shop and tell your friends. You might also “heart” my shop while you are there. I may attract more attention.

Now about Pecan Cottage. We had another Chick Trip this weekend and they had a blast. Came in by Heartland Flyer, the Amtrak from Fort Worth, on Thursday night, shopped in Pauls Valley on Friday, listened to the rain from the Florida Room on Saturday and watched lots of movies. A husband came up Saturday afternoon to drive all home and I think they hit the casinos and chocolate factory – Bedre – on the way south.
These ladies wanted to getaway with girlfriends, talk, rest and do just a little sightseeing. The train was a big hit and so was my jewelry. This group will definitely be back.
Unfortunately, the fireworks were postponed due to rain, but maybe next year they will come back and watch from Pecan Cottage front Porch.

Thank you all for your time and encouragement. Susen Foster
