PECAN COTTAGE BED & BREAKFAST

The best Chick Trip lodging in Central Oklahoma

Pecan Cottage 2012 Fall is in the Air

It has been nearly 3 years since 530 North Pecan in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma took on the name “Pecan Cottage” and became the setting for an unusual Bed & Breakfast.

Since the first trio of best friends took a short road trip and made Pecan Cottage their lodging destination for 3 full days and 2 dreamy nights, this charming 1948 Craftsman style 2 bedroom blossomed into one of the High Plains favorite overnight accommodations; especially for All Girl Getaways.

Many people still ask “What is a Chick Trip?” Well, simply put, it is when 2 to 4 gals decide to leave their everyday lives behind and take a few days for themselves to do what they want, when they want, without having to worry about family or work responsibilities. Pecan Cottage B & B is just the place because it is fully equipped and very private.

Whether it is a few friends who have a passion for scrapbooking; Moms and grown daughters who want to spend some special time together; sisters from all over who meet for the weekend to catch up on their lives; girlfriends who just need some time for themselves; or a couple who need a break alone together, Pecan Cottage fills all those needs.

Not only are the pantry and refrigerator kept filled to overflowing with munchies, meals and beverages but Pauls Valley is very centrally located and no matter what you like to do it is probably available in town or nearby. Wineries, casinos, history centers, lakes, golf, and incredible scenery are a few ideas; then add PaulsValley’s own chocolate factory, pie factory, and special shopping.

This lovely 1948 Craftsman-style 2 bedroom cottage sits on a shady corner lot in the middle of a pleasant neighborhood where the western view is farmland.

As with many homes in rural Oklahoma, the back door is the main entrance and it opens into an immense kitchen and eating area with a vaulted cedar ceiling, double glass front hutches, and a center island.

The lot is covered with large pecan trees, Mimosa, Dogwood, Azaleas and many flowering shrubs. The front porch, enclosed with sheer covered screened windows faces west, north and south, and is furnished with resort like rattan furniture and makes for a lazy place to read and relax.

Is it time for you and your girlfriends or loved one to plan an inexpensive getaway?

Hi Susen,
I have a couple of questions. If I got some friends to go on a Chick Trip from OKC, would we be able to take the train? I would like an idea of how much it would cost, per person, to take the train to the Pecan Cottage, be picked up & spend time at the B&B. + tour the chocolate factory & maybe the winery & Field’s Pies. Is it all inclusive in the price?
Do you have anything planned for Jan., that might be fun? I’m really wanting to go! ( :

Hello LizAnne,
I am so glad you got a chance to virtual tour Pecan Cottage. I emailed you answers to your questions and Yes, there are still availabilities in January. Midweek stays are open; weekends go a faster.
There is always something going on in or near Pauls Valley, so anytime is a good time. Within a half hour of Pecan Cottage are wineries, casinos, antiques, the Chickasaw Cultural Center, Turner Falls, boating, 4 wheeling – you name – weather permitting – we can find it. Hope to hear back from you soon. Susen Foster

Susen,
I’m interested in knowing more about your B & B but, I’m having the hardest time reading your script on your website page. I can not see the black typing with the trees and house in the background. Is this something on my end that is wrong?

Thank you for your time,
Stephanie

Susen: Thank you for your wonderful hospitality during our stay over Labor Day weekend 2010! We were very comfy at Pecan Cottage and appreciated all of your extra touches! I heard you made a special trip just to find some soda I love! Thank you for doing that 🙂 I traveled to your cottage with three of my fellow scrapbooker gals and we set up our things in the living area where we “camped out” in the living room and worked on our books while watching movies. Again, that you for being so accommodating. We appreciate it very much and hope to stay again sometime.

Oh – the thanks goes to you ladies for taking a chance on a new B & B on one of your getaways. I am so glad you made yourselves at home. By the way, I tried Diet Pepsi Wild Cherry this week and now I know why you like it so much!
Come again anytime and please tell all your friends. Pecan Cottage is also a nice quiet place for couples to get to know each other again, too.

I am planning a quiet getaway for the end of this month. It appears that Pecan Cottage is exactly what I need to de-stress and relax. There is no doubt I will be using the inviting porch while watching the birds and feeling the breezes – along with drinking a fine glass of wine! I can’t wait!!!

The greatest place ever to get away, hang out, re-connect with friends and have fun. A true retreat. No worries, no pressures, just doing what comes naturally. More to do than can be accomplished in one visit. Thanks to Susen for thinking it up and making it possible!
